Morocco has vast scenic variety and an exotic feel that has fascinated travelers since long before the modern tourist arrived. Affordable and pleasant, bordered by the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Sahara Desert, Morocco is a mix of tradition and modern that strikes the perfect balance between the intensely exotic and comfortably familiar.

Cities like  Marrakech, Casablanca and Zagora evoke images of medinas, spice markets and cuisine of the Arabs, Berbers, French and Spanish. The geographic extremes—a day journey from the Atlas Mountains to an exquisite Zagora desert hotel and a journey on camels into the desert—altogether make the journey dramatically photogenic.

The mad circus of Marrakech's Djemaa el Fna square, packed with incense, traders, snake charmers and native  musicians, is bizarre and entertaining; you'll be enchanted and looking for more…

Onye Onyemaechi, spiritual guide, musician and healer

My wish to share the mystical nature of the Moroccan desert began in 2013. On my birthday, Anita and Mireille extended an invitation to travel to the Moroccan desert. Overwhelmed with gratitude and exhilarated by my travel experience, I decided to collaborate and design a spiritual retreat and travel for people from diverse cultures. My goal is to build community and create an opportunity that allows people to discover an inner peace, and to facilitate healing and sacred rituals within a natural setting.
Thus, the Moroccan Desert Journey continues. Now on my third trip to the mystical desert of Morocco, I once again invite others to participate in a buoyant celebration.

Anita Heynen, Coordinator

I am a former teacher in primary school and currently work as a therapist for children (Psychomotoriktherapeutin) in Switzerland. I have a keen interest and knowledge of medicinal herbs and plants, and during summer seasons, I guide people in the Swiss Alps to study plants. For twelve years, I have visited Morocco and I continue to hold a fascination for this exotic country. I am especially familiar with the city of Marrakech. In years past, my good friend Mustafa and I have collaborated on multiple desert trips with dromedaries (camels). Again, I am thrilled to participate as a guide on the  2017 Moroccan Desert Journey.
12 Day Journey

Experience the mystical adventure and wonders of nature for personal and collective evolution and retreat. The African Wisdom teaching workshops based on Onye’s book Drum: Voice of the Village will be integrated into the desert journey experience. All the workshops will be held in the afternoons and will include entertainment: Berber drums, dance, rituals and songs around the fire to encourage everyone in a participatory celebration.
Our group will be limited to a maximum 15 travelers.
